Life in the Golden State
About 4 months ago I made the decision to move my life 2,851 miles from Long Island, New York to Los Angeles, California. Am I happy with the move? Did I make the right decision? Am I homesick?
To be honest, I have never been happier in my entire life. I have wanted to move out of New York for years. I wasn’t sure where exactly I wanted to move, just somewhere warm and sunny. I came to LA last year for an O’Neill Women’s shoot and the second I landed at LAX, I fell in love. The people, the vibes, the beaches, the mountains. Everything here is absolutely beautiful. There are so many opportunities for people like me working in the creative/social media marketing industry. It was the best move I could have ever made.
I have gotten many questions about the difficulties of uprooting my life almost 3,000 miles. I was lucky to already have some friends out here, so I did not struggle with having no one to hang out with. I am so happy to be living in this gorgeous city, but every day is not a vacation. My friends and I joke about how we live in one of the top vacation destinations in the country but will never have time to take a vacation. I am learning so much about marketing and running a business with my new job! This was never a field I saw myself working in but now I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
Thankfully, I am not homesick whatsoever. Like I said previously, I have wanted to move for years now. I was 100% ready. I am thankful for the memories New York has given me, and of course I miss my family and my friends who are still living there, but I cannot see myself ever moving back!!! There’s too many fun things going on on the west coast!
